Axewomen top Aigles Bleues 3-1 in first of two weekend matches at Moncton

MONCTON, N.B. - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (0-5) lost to the Acadia University Axewomen (5-0) 3-1 in an Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball game Friday at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud of the Moncton campus.

The visitors won the game by scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-18, and 25-23. Following a neck-and-neck first set, the visitors finally took the lead at the end of the set with a score of 25 to 20 despite the Aigles solid defense. While the Blue and Gold dominated for a good part of the second set, the Axewomen came back to tie with a very close score until the end, but the Blue and Gold finally managed to win this set 26-24.

The beginning of the third set was very close between the two teams. Despite everything, the Axewomen managed the gap by winning 25-18. The Aigles Bleues fought until the end of the fourth set, with a very close score to finally concede the victory to the Axewomen 23-25. Moncton led 23-15 at one point. 

The two teams will meet again on Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m. at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the Moncton campus.
