Boudreau grabs silver at CIS championship

TORONTO, ON - Acadia's senior swimmer Luc Boudreau will be bringing home a silver medal from Toronto after posting a personal best, AUS and Swim Nova Scotia record in the 200m breaststroke. Both Boudreau and Kristen MacPherson are attending the CIS National Championship hosted by the University of Toronto.

Boudreau went into the finals in second place with 2:13.02. It was his fastest swim for preliminaries. His silver medal winning time was 2:12:12 and Boudreau was rewarded with a CIS Second Team All-Canadian honours. Luc finished 10th place and new AUS & Swim NS record in 100m breast and a 16th placing in 50m Breast.

Coach Chris Stone pointed out that Boudreau felt great before his silver medal win "Luc said it felt easy (after preliminary swim) and he'd be looking to win tonight. That was hands down the most pressure either of us have ever felt for a morning swim"

Kristen MacPherson swam a lifetime personal best in the 50m free with 28.27 in the heat immediately after.

On Thursday, MacPherson swam a 30.61 in the 50m backstroke for 27th, while Boudreau swam a new AUS & Swim NS record of 1:02.43 in the morning, followed by a 1:02.66 at night for 10th in the 100m breast. MacPherson swam a 1:06.68 in the 100m backstroke for 40th place.

Boudreau, who qualified for the national championship in his first swim meet of the season in October, will take on the best in Canada in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, while teammate Kristen MacPherson will meet the challenge in the 50m backstroke. MacPherson qualified for the CIS championship at the AUS championship two weeks ago.

Not making the trip due to injury is Hayden Adams, who qualified for the championship swim meet in the last meet of the regular season in the 200m backstroke.

Luc has the 50m breaststroke, and Kristen has the 200m backstroke on today (Saturday).
