Acadia swimmer Ella Collins has been named AUS female athlete of the week for the period ending November 5.

Taking part in the Amby Legere Invitational hosted by UNB, Collins swam her way to some impressive results, highlighted by her setting a new team record in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke with a time of 1:11.78 – which was also good enough to qualify for the U SPORTS Championships.

She also took first in the 50m breaststroke (33.56) and 200m breaststroke (2:37.70) before helping her Axewomen to a second-place finish in the 400m relay.

Prior to receiving the provincial honour, she was named Acadia athlete of the week. 

The AUS male athlete of the week was Liam Hawel of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men hockey team.
