Lake and Cox named Acadia athletes of the week
Jenna Lake (volleyball) and Glen Cox (basketball) have been named the Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending December 2.
Lake, a fourth-year psychology student from Conception Bay South, NL, played a pivotal role in the Axewomen’s weekend road victories over Moncton. On Saturday, she delivered an impressive performance with 12 kills, two blocks, and two aces, highlighted by a stellar .478 hitting percentage. On Friday, she added eight kills, two blocks, and two aces to help secure the win.
Cox, a fourth-year business administration student from Scotsburn, NS, finished with 26 points and eight rebounds in Saturday’s loss to the nationally ranked STFX X-Men, which included going 8-for-12 from the free throw line.
The Axewomen volleyball program will return to action in the new year when they return to AUS action on January 11 against Dalhousie, while the basketball teams welcome Memorial for a pair of games January 10 and 11 on Stu Aberdeen Court.
