Aucoin and Swain named Acadia athletes of the week
Abbey Aucoin (soccer) and Nick Swain (football) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending September 8.
Aucoin, a third-year biology student, had a goal and an assist on Sunday afternoon in the Axewomen’s 2-2 draw against the Cape Breton Capers. She assisted on the opening goal of the match by Riley Bonadie before scoring the game-tying goal in the second half to help Acadia earn the draw in the battle of the No. 6 ranked Capers and No. 9 ranked Axewomen.
Swain, a first-year business administration student, helped the Axemen to a 24-22 walk-off win over the StFX X-Men on Saturday afternoon in Antigonish. Kicking his third field goal of the day from 43 yards out with no time on the clock, he earned Acadia their first win of the year. He was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on extra points. Swain also added a rouge.
Aucoin and the Axewomen return home this weekend to host Dalhousie and Memorial, while Swain and the Axemen travel to Quebec to face Bishop’s.
The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald's.
