X-Men shutout football Axemen
The STFX X-Men dominated the Acadia Axemen in a 46-0 victory on Friday night in Wolfville in front of 970 fans at Raymond Field.
X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan (Bonnyville, AB) led the charge, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown to his impressive stat line.
Riley Naujoks (Winnipeg, MB) threw for 25 yards for the Axemen.
The X-Men defence held the Axemen to 128 total yards and forced multiple turnovers. STFX kicker Ben Hadley (Halifax, NS) contributed three field goals and five extra points.
Tyler Ivany (Moncton, NB) led the STFX offence in receptions with 112 yards in the air, while Fagnan led the ground offence with 57 yards.
For the Axemen it was Maximus Ramirez (Fort McMurray, AB) with 56 yards to lead the ground game, while Chad Alexander (Saint John, NB) had 18 yards to lead the Acadia receivers.
The win improves STFX's record to 3-3, while Acadia falls to 2-5. Fagnan was named the X-Men's player of the game, while receiver Riley Comeau (Centerville, NS) earned player of the game honours for Acadia.
Acadia wraps up their regular season next weekend against Bishop's at home as part of Homecoming, while STFX heads to Sackville to face Mount Allison on the road. Acadia has a bye week during the final week of AUS action, while the X-Men host Saint Mary's on October 26 to conclude the conference play.
