Regault named to U SPORTS All-Rookie Team
Acadia Axemen freshman guard Ryan Regault has earned national recognition for his outstanding debut season, being named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team on Wednesday night at the All-Canadian Award Ceremony in Vancouver. This honour cements Regault’s status as one of the top young talents in Canadian university basketball.
Regault was also a nominee for U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, an award ultimately won by Queen’s Gaels standout Ollie Engen.
Earlier this season, Regault was recognized by the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference as the AUS Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Axemen to receive the honour since Ben Miller in 2014-15. He was also named to the AUS All-Rookie Team.
Regault made a significant impact in his freshman campaign, appearing in 17 games and starting 11. The six-foot guard from Scarborough, Ont., led all freshman scorers with 12.4 points per game while ranking second in the AUS with 4.9 assists per contest. He also contributed 3.7 rebounds per game and showcased his efficiency at the free-throw line, shooting 82.0 percent.
With his combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and poise, Regault’s national recognition is a testament to his remarkable season and a promising future for Acadia basketball.
