Kucyk joins Axemen soccer program via Suburban FC
WOLFVILLE — Rowan Kucyk, a versatile attacking player from Middle Sackville, N.S., has committed to the Acadia Axemen soccer program for the upcoming season.
Kucyk, who plays as a central attacking midfielder, striker and forward, has excelled with Suburban FC’s U17 team in the Nova Scotia Soccer League. He led the team in goals, helped secure a Canada Youth Cup championship and contributed to top-of-the-table finishes. At Millwood High School, Kucyk was team captain and earned MVP honours in 2023, consistently leading his teams in points.
Off the field, Kucyk plans to study business administration at Acadia University.
“Committing to Acadia means I can remain in Nova Scotia at a respected institution that values academics and athletics,” Kucyk said. “Here, I will have the opportunity to earn my degree in a supportive environment with smaller class sizes and strong connections in a vibrant community. Additionally, the soccer program provides an excellent opportunity to enhance my skills and contribute meaningfully as a dedicated player.”
Acadia Axemen head coach Matt Holton welcomed Kucyk’s arrival.
“We are excited to have Rowan join the Axemen soccer program in the fall,” Holton said. “Rowan possesses great technical ability, an eye for goal, and his versatility in attacking areas will add a new dynamic to our offence.”
Kucyk’s additional playing experience includes the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Prospects program and the East Coast Elite Combine, where he was named an all-star. His success at the provincial and national levels positions him as a key addition to the Axemen squad.
