Mayne commits to Axemen soccer program
The Acadia Axemen have added a promising young defender to their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of Ethan Mayne, a standout from PEI FC and Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Mayne, a 5'11 defender, has spent the past several years developing with PEI FC in the NSSL, competing at both the U15 and U17 levels and earning three appearances at Club Nationals. He’s also been part of the Vancouver Whitecaps Prospects program, gaining experience against top-level talent.
This summer, Mayne will represent Prince Edward Island at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, N.L., before beginning his university career at Acadia—an experience that head coach Matt Holton believes will set him up for success.
“Ethan will have the unique situation of joining the Axemen after participating in this summer’s Canada Games in St. John’s,” said Holton. “A versatile defender with a great work ethic and a desire to learn, the experiences that Ethan will gather from this level of tournament will help him as he transitions to the AUS.”
Mayne also played high school soccer at Colonel Gray, where he helped the team to two league championships.
“Committing to Acadia means reaching a goal of mine to play at the AUS level, be part of a tight-knit community, and pursue an excellent education,” said Mayne.
He will study business at Acadia.
