The Varsity team and Coach would like to thank Sue Jackson, the Wolfville Tritons and the Acadia Varsity Community for hosting our sole home competition. "without you this could not have been possible, the warmest appreciation for all of your efforts, thank you"
A special thank you to the Scholz family. Since the inaugural Jack Scholz competition, several members of the Scholz family have been in attendance to support and recognize the Acadia Varsity Swim Team. We are extremely proud to celebrate the Jack Scholz meet in memory of the late great Jack Scholz, former Acadia Coach, professor, and founder of the SMILE program.
Coach Bell was extremely proud of the members of the Varsity team as they celebrated each member of the team as they stepped onto the blocks and raced their hearts out. "This example of pride in our teammates, competitors and community was highlighted by a standing ovation to start the competition after a nearly 2-year hiatus from competitions," noted Bell.
Other highlights saw several members of the team capture event wins throughout the competition: Gordon Shortt, Kali Lancaster, Dean Sangster, Cali Bruce, Aaron Day, Shane Kenny, Lucas Mazier and Jessica Pelletier
The Acadia Varsity Swim Team capped off their season home opener this past weekend by participating in the ASU-Good Neighbours Association post-Homecoming town cleanup event, collecting garbage in the town streets left over from Homecoming. Collected cans and bottles from the event will be donated to the Valley Cardiac Rehab Society, which benefits both students and residents, as the VCRS hires Acadia students to help run heart fitness programs. The team is proud to be a part of keeping the town of Wolfville a clean and wonderful place to live and attend school, and are thrilled to be working together with town residents and students.
The next AUS scheduled meet is hosted by UNB on October 30 and 31.
