Acadia Swimming Weekend Recap: Jack Scholz Meet

SESSION 1 - Sat. Oct. 29

This afternoon, Acadia Swimming kicked off their annual Jack Sholtz meet in their home pool. 

For points, Dalhousie led men's, women's, and combined scores with Acadia trailing close behind. Memorial followed in 3rd, and UNB and Mount Allison in 4th and 5th respectively. 

Both the Axemen and Axewomen had some standout swims in session 1. Sara Bennett placed 3rd and Marcus Vaillancourt placed 2nd in the 200m butterfly. 

The 50m breaststroke had an Axewomen sweep, with Ella Collins, Elisabeth Morrison, and Kali Lancaster placing in the top 3. Gordon Shortt took 2nd place, followed closely by Adam Deutsch in 4th and Agaron Ramos in 5th. 

In the women's 100m freestyle, Grace Earle secured 2nd place with Emma Hamlyn in 4th. On the men's side, Dean Sangster dominated the final heat and placed first, followed by Bo Stokesbury-Price in 3rd place. 

Elisabeth Morrison and Gordon Shortt had great swims in the 200m individual medley, placing 3rd and 1st respectively. 

Earle and Sangster took both top spots for women's and men's 100m backstroke. 

In the 50m butterfly, Kassidy Hamilton placed 2nd while Sara Bennett place 3rd, with Shane Kenny and Marcus Vaillancourt securing 1st and 3rd respectively. 

Cameron Ingo had a great 4th-place finish in the 400m freestyle. 

Ella Collins continued her breaststroke dominance in the 200m breaststroke, placing 2nd, while Adam Deutsch took 1st place on the men's side. 

Acadia capped off session 1 by taking home both men's and women's wins in the 4x50m medley relay. 

The teams will meet again Sunday morning at 10 am for Session 2 of Jack Sholtz. Watch live on austv.ca

 

SESSION 2 - Sun. Oct. 30

This morning wrapped up Acadia Swimming's 12th Annual Jack School Invitational!

For points, Dalhousie led men's, women's, and combined scores with Acadia trailing close behind in 2nd in all categories. 

Both the Axemen and Axewomen had some standout swims in session 2. Josie Girvan had an amazing 800m freestyle race, with two big drops both at Amby Legere two weeks ago and this weekend at Jack Scholz. As well, Myles McTavish had great swims in the 800m freestyle and the 400m individual medley, climbing the rankings in both races. 

In the 800m freestyle, Josie Girvan secured herself a 5th-place finish with a time drop of 15.58 seconds! On the men's side, Myles McTavish and Cameron finished in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.  

In the women's 100m butterfly, Kassidy Hamilton finished second. On the men's side, Shane Kenny and Marcus Vaillancourt finished 1st and 3rd, respectively. 

Ella Collins, Elisabeth Morrison, and Kali Lancaster had amazing swims in the 100m breaststroke, placing 1st, 3rd, and 4th respectively. 

Gordon Shortt and Adam Deutsch took 2nd and 5th place in the men's 100m breaststroke. Way to go, Axemen!

In the 200m backstroke, Grace Earle secured gold with a great swim. On the men's side, Aaron Day finished 4th. 

In the 50m freestyle, Morrison secured gold and Aideen Nelson secured silver. Way to go, Axewomen! For the Axemen, Dean Sangster finished 1st, with teammates Shane Kenny and Bo Stokesbury-Price not far behind in 3rd and 4th, respectively. 

Shortt finished his individual events with another win in the 400M individual medley. Way to go Gordon!

Earle continued her backstroke dominance with a 1st place finish in the 50m backstroke. On the men's side, also continuing his dominance in the backstroke events, Aaron Day finished 2nd.

In the last individual event of the meet, Stokesbury-Price finished 2nd in the 200m freestyle. 

On the relay side of things, the Acadia Axewomen finished 2nd in both the A and B relays. Congratulations, Axewomen! The Acadia Axemen finished in 1st place in both the A and B relays. All of the relays had amazing swims and a very excited cheer squad. 

The teams will next month for the Kemp-Fry Meet at Dalhousie University.
