Day 2 at U SPORTS championships reap personal and team records

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Acadia Swimming team took to the pool on Day 2 of USPORTS Championships Friday morning at 10am. In the 50m backstroke, Sophie Rooney put together a great morning swim and secured a B final position. In the evening, Sophie placed 3rd in her heat with a time of 30.65, placing 11th overall. On the men's side, Dean Sangster and Shane Kenny both raced in the morning and placed 27th and 33rd respectively. 

In the 100m breaststroke, Ella Collins had a standout morning swim, setting a new team record with a time of 1:12.31. In the C final that evening, Collins placed 23rd overall. Elisabeth Morrison and Gordon Shortt both had solid morning swims. 

In the 50m butterfly, Rooney secured a C final, placing 3rd in her heat in a 28.69. Kenny also secured a C final and won his evening heat. Shane's final time would have had him placed 7th in USPORTS. 

The Axewomen 4x200 freestyle relay (Morrison, Rooney, Collins, and Grace Earle) placed 16th with a 9:10.60. The Axemen (Kenny, Shortt, Sangster, and Bo Stokesbury-Price) placed 11th with a time of 7:58.15.
