Axemen, Axewomen finish second at AUS Invitational
Acadia's swim team showcased their strength at the AUS Invitational held at Dalplex this past weekend, finishing second in the men's, women's, and overall team standings. This impressive showing highlighted Acadia's depth and talent as they gear up for the AUS Championship next month.
Acadia secured second place in the women's event with 761 points, trailing Dalhousie's 1,027. In the men's standings, Dalhousie led with 976 points, while Acadia followed with 618.
Day 1: Strong Performances in the Pool
The first session kicked off Saturday with notable performances by Acadia swimmers Sophie Rooney and Sara Bennett, who claimed the top two spots in the women's 50m butterfly. Dalhousie's Mia Stein-Blumberg finished third in the event.
In the women's 200m freestyle, Emma Hamlyn and Grace Earle of Acadia touched in second and third, respectively, behind Dalhousie's Emma Carrier Clarke. Acadia's Alex Jonsen-Humble secured a third-place finish in the men's 200m freestyle, rounding out a competitive opening session.

Day 2: Closing Strong
Sunday's final session saw Acadia continuing to excel. Sara Bennett and Emma Cyr claimed second and third in the women's 100m freestyle, while Sophie Rooney secured second in the women's 100m butterfly. Nate Thompson won the men's 50m butterfly, showcasing Acadia's ability to compete in various disciplines.

With their strong performance at the AUS Invitational, Acadia has proven they are a contender heading into the AUS Championship, which will be hosted by UNB from February 21-23 in Saint John, New Brunswick.
