Axewomen win big on homecoming weekend
WOLFVILLE – The Acadia Axewomen put on a show for the over 1,300 fans in attendance for Homecoming 2023 on Saturday as they topped the Saint Mary’s Huskies 53-14.

Acadia led from the sixth minute on, with Chloe Buckingham opening the scoring.
The Axewomen led 31-7 at the half, holding SMU to just a try per half on the day.
Multi-try scorers for Acadia included Kenzie Cecchetto and Olivia Savoie, while Sara Grant kicked four coverts and scored a try.
Prior to the game, the 2023 graduating seniors were recognized, which included: Amanda Jardine, Cecchetto, Katya Dondi, Kaitlyn Jinda, Holly Robinson and Buckingham.
While Acadia had already solidified third place going into the weekend, they now know they will face the STFX X-Women in the AUS semfinal. The winner will then travel to PEI to face the UPEI Panthers for the AUS championship.
