Demmings commits to Axewomen rugby program
WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Ava Demmings, a standout inside centre from Hantsport, N.S., has committed to the Acadia Axewomen rugby program for the upcoming season.
Demmings, a student at Horton High School in Greenwich, N.S., earned rookie of the year honours in 2023 and was a key player in her team’s undefeated run to the 2024 regional and provincial championships.
On the provincial stage, she competed with the Nova Scotia Keltics, winning a gold medal at the 2024 Atlantic championship.
Standing at 5'5, Demmings is set to bring agility, skill and determination to the Axewomen. Off the field, she plans to study biology at Acadia University as she works toward her goal of becoming a doctor.
“Growing up locally, I’m especially excited to represent my community and be a part of a program that values hard work, camaraderie and excellence on and off the field,” Demmings said. “With outstanding coaching and a talented team, I am eager to challenge myself, develop my skills, and take rugby to the next level while furthering my studies at Acadia.”
