Axewomen bring more provincial team experience to program with Thomson commitment
Sidney Thomson, a fly half and centre from Bedford, N.S., has committed to the Acadia Axewomen rugby program for the upcoming season.
Thomson, who stands 5'6, helped Charles P. Allen High School achieve its best-ever ranking in rugby and was named the school's overall rookie athlete of the year as well as rugby rookie of the year. She also represented the Keltics U18 team at the Rugby Atlantics, securing a gold medal, and won another gold medal with Team Nova Scotia 7s at the East Coast Games.
Off the field, Thomson will study law and society at Acadia University.
“I have been training for rugby my whole life without knowing,” Thomson said. “Playing soccer, football, and basketball at a high level contributed to how natural it felt to play rugby. Committing to Acadia was an easy decision. After spending time with the team and coaches, I knew it was the right fit for me. I can’t wait to be part of the team and continue growing as a player.”
