Kibble brings Canada Games experience to Axewomen roster

WOLFVILLE – The Axewomen soccer program is excited to announce their 2024 recruitment class continues to grow with the addition of Rachel Kibble.

A 5’4 winger/midfielder, she joins Acadia via Team Nova Scotia and United Dartmouth Football Club (UDFC).

“Rachel is a versatile attacking force with an excellent work rate, dynamic movement, and lethal shot,” said Axewomen head coach Amit Batra. “She’s had success at every level at youth including a Canada Games bronze while only in Grade 10 and is already adapting well to playing at the senior level. As important as these qualities are for us on the field – she brings positive energy and discipline to whatever she does including her studies and it’s no surprise she gained a place in the Acadia nursing program. We’re not only excited about Rachel as a varsity athlete but also for the person we’re getting to add to a great group of incoming Axewomen.”

Over the last three years she spent time with Team Nova Scotia, building towards the 2022 Niagara Canada Games where she was part of the bronze medal winning team. Team NS also won gold at the 2022 NYC Cup tournament and were named the Nova Scotia female team of the year for 2022.

With her club team, they were Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) and Soccer Nova Scotia Cup silver medalists.

“I chose Acadia because of the excellent soccer program and its connections to academics,” said Kibble. “I was really drawn to the small and friendly campus, as well as the supportive environment. I am very excited to grow as an athlete, as well as a student, and I believe that will happen best for me here at Acadia.”

Kibble also played for Auburn Drive High School where she was named team captain in her Grade 11 and 12 seasons. In Grade 10 she was the team’s top goal scorer and Auburn won a School Sport Nova Scotia (SSNS) bronze medal.

Kibble will be working towards a nursing degree while attending Acadia.
