Samson commits to Axewomen soccer for 2024 season

WOLFVILLE – The Axewomen soccer program is excited to announce the addition of Kiersten Samson as part of their 2024 recruitment class.

A 5’6 striker/winger, she joins Acadia via United Dartmouth Football Club (UDFC).

“Kiersten is an explosively fast winger who can play with both feet. She’s aggressive going forward and defenders will have a difficult time coping with her pace and shot as well as ability to cross the ball,” said head coach Amit Batra. “We think she can be both a provider of goals during her career but also score several herself. She continues to improve via opportunities she has created for herself with hard work and will be part of the REX/Whitecaps contingent competing in Vancouver this spring.”

She has recently been a member of UDFC’s senior women’s team, alongside being a member of the provincial Whitecaps EXCEL program.

With UDFC’s U17 AAA team, she made it to the Nova Scotia Soccer League cup final both years, earning the right to attend the national championship both seasons with that team.

Outside of her REX and club program experience, she was also a member of the Soccer Nova Scotia U14 team in 2019, which won the Atlantic Canadian championship.

At school she was named female athlete of the year twice, in 2019 and 2022.

“I’ve been surrounded by Acadia coaches and players my whole life who have had a big impact on my soccer career and really inspired me,” said Samson. “Acadia has been my dream school since I was a little, and I’m honoured to play on their soccer team.”

Samson will be working towards a kinesiology degree while attending Acadia.
