Axewomen welcome local striker Lily Walsh for 2025 season
The Acadia Axewomen soccer team has added local standout Lily Walsh to its roster for the 2025-26 season.
Walsh, a 5’9 striker from Grand Pré, N.S., has excelled at both the provincial and high school levels. She won gold at the U13 Atlantics in 2019 and the U16 Atlantics in 2022 with Soccer Nova Scotia. At Horton High School, she earned multiple awards, including Junior Female Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and back-to-back MVP honours for the Division 1 girls’ soccer team. She also participated in the Vancouver Whitecaps Combine for three years.
“Lily has a terrific ability to score goals in a variety of ways,” said Axewomen head coach Amit Batra. “Her movement is intelligent, and she is brave on crosses, winning aerial battles to score goals. Lily can hold up the ball and link with her midfield, helping finish attacking movements. Off the field, Lily is a top student and really understands the local community, having grown up near Acadia. She’s going to excel in our engineering program and be a force on the pitch.”
Walsh said committing to Acadia is a dream come true.
“Having grown up in the valley, Acadia has always felt like home to me,” Walsh said. “From playing for Valley United, where Acadia athletes were often my coaches, to attending sports and academic camps on campus, I’ve always admired the dedication and pride that defines this university. Committing to Acadia is truly an honour, and I’m both excited and proud to represent Acadia.”
Walsh’s scoring ability and strong connection to the local community are expected to make her a key contributor to the Axewomen when she joins next fall.
