Stefanovich leads Axewomen to 3rd place in team standings

MONCTON N.B. - Lauren Lowther of the Dalhousie University Tigers was the first to cross the finish line at the Université de Moncton cross country classic held on the Universite de Moncton Campus. The Axewomen finished third overall in the women's team standings, with Ava Stefanovich-Thomson completing the 8km course in 7th place with a time of 32:54.80.

Ella Campbell posted an 11th-place finish, while teammates Paris Buchanan, Jenni Simpson, Lauren Doyle and Taylor Long finished 11th, 22nd, 26th 27th and 30th respectively.

"The Acadia Axewomen XC team continues to put their best effort into every competition. They are starting to get momentum in their training and it is showing in their races. We are hoping to continue this momentum into the AUS and U SPORTS championships," said Ralph Williams following today's race.

Lauren Lowther completed the 8km run in 32:06.80, 13 seconds ahead of Breanna Sandluck and 17 ahead of Taylor Rasmussen, both from St. Francis Xavier University X-Women who finished the top 3 in the women's category.  

In the final team standings, the X-Women finished first followed by the Dalhousie Tigers, Acadia Axewomen, UPEI Panthers, Memorial Sea-Hawks and Moncton Aigles Bleues.
