Axewomen finish third at Acadia Invitational

WOLFVILLE – The Acadia Axewomen had a positive showing at their lone home meet of the season on Saturday at Hennigar's Farm as they finished third in the team standings in the women's race.

Dalhousie won the team event, while STFX finished second.

Ava Stefanovich-Thomson and Ella Campbell finished back-to-back as the top finishers for Acadia, just outside the top 10 with 11th (tie with Ivy Bialowas of UNB) and 13th place finishes. They had times of 33:13 and 33:19 respectively.

Paris Buchanan finished 24th in 34:42, while the next two finishers for the Axewomen were Taylor Long and Madesen Allen finishing 28th and 32nd.

Rounding out the Acadia results were Lauren Doyle in 44th and Amanda Daniels in 53rd.

The next invitational race for the Axewomen is October 7 in Fredericton.

To wrap up their AUS season they will then compete October 28 in Halifax at the AUS championship hosted by Saint Mary's University.
