Axewomen finish seventh at AUS championship
The Acadia Axewomen placed seventh overall in the AUS women's cross country championship, as the St. Francis Xavier X-Women clinched the team title.
Individually, Ella Campbell was the top finisher for Acadia, securing 30th place with a time of 33:59.6. Paris Buchanan followed closely in 32nd, clocking in at 34:07.9. Anne-Sophie Le Rudulier finished in 37th place at 34:53.0, while Clémentine MacLeod came in 44th with a time of 35:58.1. Rounding out the scoring runners, Grace Earle took 45th place at 36:07.7, and Maggie Graves finished 47th in 36:39.1. Amanda Daniels crossed the line in 48th with a time of 38:24.2.
STFX's Eileen Benoit ran to an AUS gold medal in the women's 8-kilometre race, finishing the course in a time of 30:24.0. The fourth-year runner has improved her standing every year – finishing fifth in 2021, fourth in 2022 and third in 2023.
In second place was Université de Moncton's Sophie Black, who finished 10 seconds back at 30:24.6 to earn her first ever individual medal.
Benoit's teammate, Caroline Ash earned the bronze medal with a time of 30:35.6.
This brings the Axewomen cross country season to a close, with the U SPORTS championship taking place November 9 at UBCO.
