Nagy and Harnish named Acadia athletes of the week
WOLFVILLE – Cole Nagy (hockey) and Mya Harnish (soccer) have been named the Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending October 6.
Nagy, a third-year business administration student, helped the Axemen to a 5-1 victory in their season opener against the UPEI Panthers in Charlottetown on Friday night with a goal and two assists. Acadia split the opening weekend after falling to the SMU Huskies on Saturday in Halifax.
Harnish, a fifth year with the soccer program and first-year education student, was a key player in Sunday’s 3-3 draw against the nationally ranked Cape Breton Capers. Playing in an unfamiliar position, she helped move the ball down the field and make key tackles – one of which was a major part of the first goal of the game against the Capers. The point earned by the Axewomen also clinched their spot in the AUS championship later this month.
The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald's.
