Winnipeg native Brandon Kamenz joins Axemen

Brandon Kamenz is the next player to join the Axemen football recruitment class for the 2024 season.

The 6’0 defensive back from Winnipeg joins Acadia from the Winnipeg Rifles of the Canadian Junior Football League. A captain with the Rifles, he recently finished the 2023 season as the team’s leader in interceptions and sacks.

“It means a lot (to join Acadia) as it shows that I’ve improved over my career to keep being able to play at a higher level of ball,” said Kamenz. “Lots of appreciation to the coaching staff at Acadia for giving me the opportunity to continue playing football.”

Kamenz was also team captain of his high school team at Vincent Massey in 2018, his senior year with the program.

“Brandon has a versatile skillset that allows him to be smooth in coverage while having an impact near the box and making plays in the backfield,” said Adam Melanson, defensive line coach. “We look forward to adding a player with Brandon’s experience and talent to our defensive unit.”
