Michalos joins Axemen offensive line for 2024 season

WOLFVILLE – The Acadia Axemen are excited to announce the addition of Ioanni Michalos, a key addition to the offensive line for the 2024 season.

A 6’2, 285 lb lineman, he hails from Halifax, but has spent the last four years in Aurora, Ont. At St. Andrew’s College.

“Ioanni's got a great work ethic and is constantly working on his craft, through camps and offseason training,” said Axemen head coach Jeff Cummins. “You watch the film and he stands out, dropping defensive players in front of him and in the vicinity. He's one that is extremely talented and will be a cornerstone on that line. I think he's going to bring an energy to that OL room, and he's one that every single coach can remember meeting him and his family in person — what he looks like and what he can do for this program is exciting to think about."

During his time with St. Andrew’s College, where he played in the Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CISAA), he was part of two league championship teams. Michalos was also a team captain, three time league all-star and a contribution award winner.

For his play, he was ranked the number one player in Canada and the number one interior offensive linemen by Prep RedZone.

“Committing to Acadia means getting the opportunity to further pursue my academic and athletic goals at the next level, while being close to home,” said Michalos.

Prior to attending St. Andrew’s, he played for the Timberlea Titans where he was a two-time team captain, team MVP and linemen of the year.

Michalos will be working towards a biology degree while attending Acadia.
