  • Title:
    Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach
Bio

Chris Coulson rejoined the Acadia Axemen football program in 2025 as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach, bringing decades of coaching experience at the U SPORTS, junior, and professional levels. A former Axemen player and team captain (1994–1998), Coulson began his coaching career at Acadia in 1999 as the defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator.

Coulson’s coaching career has spanned multiple programs and leagues, including a six-year tenure as offensive coordinator at the University of Ottawa (2005–2011), where he led one of the top-ranked offences in the country. Under his leadership, the Gee-Gees produced multiple All-Canadians, two Hec Crighton Trophy nominees, and a Hec Crighton winner in quarterback Brad Sinopoli. His unit ranked first nationally in yards gained in 2010 and was consistently among the top offences in the country.

From 2012 to 2019, Coulson served as the offensive line coach and run game/protection coordinator at Carleton University, where he helped develop some of the nation’s best rushing attacks and offensive linemen. His offensive units finished in the top five in U SPORTS rushing statistics multiple times, including a #1 ranking in yards per carry in 2016.

In addition to his U SPORTS experience, Coulson has worked extensively at the provincial and club levels. He has served as offensive coordinator for Team Ontario’s U14 program (2022–2023) and led multiple teams to provincial and city championships, most recently with the undefeated Cumberland Panthers U14 squad in 2024. His coaching experience also includes guest coaching positions with the CFL’s Ottawa Renegades, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Ottawa Redblacks.

Coulson’s deep knowledge of offensive systems and quarterback development will be instrumental in guiding the Axemen’s offence. His return to Acadia marks a homecoming to the program where his playing career culminated and his coaching journey began.
