Suffron joined the Axemen in 2018 as a linebacker coach. Rob spent five years as special teams coordinator and linebackers coach with team Nova Scotia. From 2021-23, Suffron was the head coach of the U16 team Nova Scotia.

Suffron has been the president of Football Nova Scotia since 2021. He has been involved locally with football and was a head coach and president of Valley Bulldogs Football Association. In 2017, Rob was named the Football Nova Scotia coach of the year. Rob is from Kentville, Nova Scotia.
