Citadel's MacKinnon-Metcalf joins Basketball Axemen

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University men's basketball team head coach is pleased to announce the commitment of Citadel High School's Jackson MacKinnon-Metcalf to the Axemen basketball team this coming fall semester.

A 6'5" shooting guard and small forward from Halifax, N.S., MacKinnon-Metcalf was named as an NSSAF League All-Star in 2022 and was the team's most valuable player at years end.

Jackson is a hard-working basketball player who is looking to get better every day. He is a great team player, a great teammate, and a hard worker. He is the type of basketball player that all coaches would want in their program. It was an honor to coach Jackson, but most important, Jackson is a fine young man," said Citadel head coach Mark Parker.

MacKinnon-Metcalf's Citadel Phoenix team played in the Nova Scotia High School regional championship semifinal game. He was also was a member of Team Nova Scotia provincial program since 2019, playing in a National Championship bronze medal game in 2019.

"I chose Acadia because I was really impressed with Coach Leslie and the way he approaches the game. The role he explained to me on this team sounded like an area I could thrive in. I'm excited to be joining the Axemen and I am hoping to have an impact on the Acadia program and become a high-performing rookie within the AUS," noted MacKinnon-Metcalf when asked why he chose Acadia.

The Axemen open the regular season at STFX on Wed. Oct. 26 and then host the X-Men on Sat. Oct. 29.
