WOLFVILLE - Acadia defeated Saint Mary's 78-62 in men's basketball action on Saturday night in Wolfville in front of 741 fans, in a game highlighted by standout performances from both teams.
Kyle Munro led Acadia with 15 points and eight rebounds, earning player-of-the-game honours. Teammates Gabe Davignon and Glen Cox each contributed 15 points, helping the Axemen establish an early lead that they maintained throughout.
For Saint Mary's, Eliel Nsoseme was named player of the game, posting 15 points and 23 rebounds. Marc-Denault Gabriel added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies, who mounted a strong effort but couldn't overcome Acadia's offensive edge.
Acadia's victory splits the opening weekend of AUS action following Saint Mary's victory Wednesday night in Halifax.
Next weekend the Axemen head to Charlottetown for a pair of games against the UPEI Panthers, while the Saint Mary's Huskies host Memorial for a pair of games.
