WOLFVILLE, N.S. — In a closely contested game on Nov. 9, the Acadia Axemen edged the UPEI Panthers 74-72.
Acadia led for most of the game, but UPEI battled back in the second and third quarters to make it a tight finish.
Glen Cox paced Acadia with 25 points and 11 rebounds, playing a pivotal role in holding off UPEI. The Panthers were led by Kamari Scott, who contributed 14 points.
Gabe Davignon added 18 points for the Axemen, while Ryan Regault chipped in with 13. UPEI struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 5.9 per cent from three-point range.
Free throws proved critical for Acadia, which shot 72.4 per cent from the line. The win improves the Axemen's record to 2-2, while UPEI falls to 2-2.
Next weekend Acadia heads to St. John's for a pair of games against the Memorial Sea-Hawks.
