Sydney, NS- The 4th seeded Acadia Axemen beat the 5th seeded UPEI Panthers in the second quarterfinal of the 2017 AUS Men's Soccer Championship being held at Cape Breton University. The Axemen got the winner in the 76th minute to earn the 3-1 victory. Lucas Holmes (York, PE) scored the lone goal for the UPEI Panthers. Zach Visser (Winsloe, PE), Zane Brennan (Fredericton, NB) and Cooper Coats (Halifax, NS) scored for the winners.
Turning point – Zane Brennan scored 2 minutes after UPEI tied the game. The Panthers were pressing most of the second half but seemed to let once they equalized. The Axemen added an insurance goal late as the Panthers pushed at the end of the game.
