ST. JOHN'S – The Acadia Axemen fell 2-1 in their final game of 2023.
Up against the Memorial Sea-Hawks in back-to-back games, they were unable to solve MUN in must-win matches to qualify for the AUS championship.
Ben Chisholm scored the lone Acadia goal in the match, coming in the 79th minute when the Axemen were down 2-0.
The Memorial goals were scored by Josh Power and Cabhan O'Keefe.
Dylan Legere made six saves in the loss, while Robert Hodge made five in the Sea-Hawks victory.
Memorial will now play Saint Mary's in their AUS quarter-final, while UNB plays Dalhousie. StFX and Cape Breton have byes to the semifinal round.
