CHARLOTTETOWN — The UPEI Panthers defeated the Acadia Axemen 2-1 in a Sunday's AUS men's soccer match in Charlottetown in front of 200 fans.
Jahmal Boursiquot opened the scoring for UPEI in the first half, but Acadia's Noah Schurman equalized, leaving the score tied at 1-1 at halftime. Boursiquot found the net again in the second half, securing the win for UPEI with his second goal of the match.
Acadia registered nine shots with three on target, while UPEI had eight shots, also with three on target. UPEI goalkeeper Isaac Wolters made two crucial saves, and Acadia's Connor Burns made one save.
The victory improves UPEI's record to 4-4-1, while Acadia drops to 1-6-3.
The Axemen travel to Antigonish and Cape Breton to face STFX and CBU next weekend.
