Axemen finish 2nd & Axewomen fourth at last AUS meet

HALIFAX, N.S. - The AUS swim season closed with the last regular meet of the season at Dalhousie. The Axemen posted a strong second place in the team standings, only 86 points behind CIS No. 8 ranked Dalhousie, while a young women's team finished fourth overall.

Second year backstroke specialist Hayden Adams, named the Acadia McDonald's Athlete of the Week grabbed two first place wins in the 50m and 100m backstroke and a second place finish in the 200m backstroke. Hayden also added a 50m third place posting in the 50m fly.

Another solid performance by fourth year swimmer Luc Boudreau who won the 200m breaststroke and second in the 200m individual medley and 50m free.

On the women's side, second year backstroke specialist Kristen MacPherson hand a fourth place finish in the 50m backstroke.

Head Coach Chris Stone is optimistic about the coming AUS championships meet being hosted for the first time by Memorial University on the February 7-8 weekend, despite some lower than usual results. "The meet went well despite tired racing due to training fatigue. We had lots of good step-ups from everyone on the team, and we're all looking forward to the final preparations as we head into AUS Championships next month'.

While for some, the AUS championship is a weekend to prepare for their best races, Acadia's Luc Boudreau and Hayden Adams will hope to peak at the CIS championship held at the University of Toronto two weeks after the AUS championships. Both Luc and Hayden qualified for the CIS championship with early season qualify times. Boudreau did so at the first AUS meet of the season in October.
