HALIFAX, N.S. - Dalhousie found themselves atop of the podium in 10 of the 14 events at the end of day one of the 2019 Subway AUS Swimming Championships. UNB won three events and Acadia had one. 

Dalhousie's Isabel Sarty, the AUS female swimmer of the year, set a new AUS record in the 50m freestyle to get the meet started. She touched the wall in a time of 25.75, topping the record previously set by UPEI's Janet Gamble in 2012. Dal's Molly Wedge tied the record in 2013. UNB's Leah Smal and Jennifer Moore rounded out the top three in the event. 

Acadia sprinter and AUS male athlete of the year Brett Liem won the men's 50m freestyle race, followed closely by Dal's Geraint Berger and Memorial's Noah Mascoll-Gomes. All three achieved U SPORTS-qualifying times in the event. 

Leah Smal headed back to the medal podium two races later, winning the 100m backstroke. She clocked in with a time of 1:00.94. Dalhousie's Lise Cinq-Mars and Sarah Bond placed second and third, respectively, with all three swimmers earning U SPORTS-qualifying times. 

Dalhousie's Christian Payne won his first-ever AUS championship race, taking top spot in the 100m backstroke with a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 55.31. Teammate Tyler Immel-Herron was second, followed by Acadia's Benjamin Henger in third. 

It was a Dalhousie sweep in the 50m breaststroke with Victoria MacDonald claiming top spot. Caroline Hickman and Alexis Bragman were second and third, respectively. 

UNB's Noah Horwood won the men's 50m breaststroke in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 28.80. Acadia's Brett Liem and Dalhousie's Sam Cusimano followed in second and third. 

Dalhousie swept the podium again for the second time of the evening, this time in the women's 400m freestyle. This year's AUS female rookie of the year Reagan Crowell won the event in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 4:15.60. Finishing in second were teammates Isabel Sarty and Imani Theodore. 

Tyler Immel-Herron won the 400m freestyle event for Dalhousie. Teammate Quinn West was close behind in second, followed by Memorial's Thomas Chafe in third. 

Dalhousie's Lise Cinq-Mars was the first to the wall in the 100m butterfly, followed by Acadia's Kelsea Vessey in second and Memorial's Allison Somers in third. Cinq-Mars and Vessey both posted U SPORTS-qualifying times in the event. 

Erik Staeben won UNB's third goal medal of the night, placing first in the 100m butterfly. Acadia's Benjamin Henger and Dalhousie's Jacob Branchflower were second and third, respectively. 

Olivia Feschuk led the Tigers to a podium sweep of the 200m IM. Teammate Madeline Shivgulam and Alexis Bragman were second and third, respectively. 

Dalhousie's Alec Karlsen won the 200m IM. He was followed closely by Acadia's Elyott Chang and Memorial's Thomas Chafe for the silver and bronze. 

The Tigers won both 400m medley relays to end the night. Sarah Bond, Alexis Bragman, Lise Cinq-Mars and Isabel Sarty nabbed first place with a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 4:13.01. Acadia and UNB were second and third, respectively. The team of Christian Payne, Sam Cusimano, Tyler Immel-Herron and Geraint Berger claimed victory in the men's relay. Acadia was second, followed by Memorial in third. 

At the end of the first day of competition, the team standings are as follows:
