Victoria's Lancaster to join Axewomen Swim Team in Fall 2021

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University's Department of Athletics and the Acadia swim team are pleased to welcome Victoria, B.C. native Kali Lancaster to the Axewomen this coming fall.

The 100m and 200m breaststroke specialist has committed to joining the Axewomen after her graduation from Reynolds Secondary School this year.

Kali is a member of her high school program and was named the Junior girls swimming team's most valuable swimming in 2017. As a member of the Reynolds' Secondary School program, Kali has been a provincial finalist the last three seasons.

As a member of the Pacific Coast Swim Club in 2020, Kali recently qualified for the Olympic Trials Youth Cut in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

In 2019, the Pacific Coast Club attended the Western Canadian Championship and Arizona Senior Championship. The club also participated in the Western Canadian Championship and Canadian Junior Nationals in 2018.

"We are excited to welcome Kali Lancaster to our Acadia swimming family. Kali will add strength and depth with her versatility in the breaststroke and individual medley events, as well as the relays. She will be aiming to reach the AUS podium and qualify for U- Sports in her breaststroke events next season," said interim coach Jennifer Ingham.

"I chose Acadia because of its unique community and great academic and athletics programs," said Lancaster when asked what was the deciding factor in her choice of Acadia.

The Acadia swim team recently participated in virtual swim meet that included several AUS member teams. They hope to take part in the 2021 University Swimming Challenge, a new national competition held virtually in partnership with Swimming Canada and organized by U SPORTS member programs, to run between February 27 and April 4 across the country.
