Wolfville Tritons Swim Club Celebrates 50 Years

Wolfville Tritons Swim Club Celebrates 50 Years

On October 29th, the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club, along with past and present swimmers, coaches, families and the Club's executive, will gather to celebrate 50 years. The Club has been a labour of love.  Swimmers, their families, and coaches have all played a pivotal role in the thriving organization that the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club has been for 50 years!

Since its inaugural year in 1972, the Club has had a close and impactful relationship with the Acadia University Varsity Swim team. Over the years, Tritons swimmers have gone on to attend Acadia and other universities and many have helped form the strong Acadia Swim Team legacy.

The Tritons first coach was the highly respected Nova Scotia Hall of Famer, the late Dave Fry. He attended Acadia and swam on the Acadia Varsity Team. Since then, many coaches have come from the Tritons program with the goal to give back to the younger swimmers. It's been a successful model!  Over the decades Tritons swimmers have been recognized at the Provincial, National and International levels, with many provincial records still being held today!

Event Details: At noon on Saturday, October 29th, prior to the Jack Scholz AUS Invitational Meet,

Tritons alumni from across four decades will compete in a relay to mark the Club's 50th anniversary.  That evening, present and former Tritons and their families will gather at the Taproom of the Horton Ridge Malt and Grain Company to celebrate and connect with former and current swimmers, coaches, administrators, and families from the last 50 years.

As part of the 50th celebration, the Tritons are raising funds for the SMILE program (created by Jack Scholz who coached the Tritons) and the Jeremy Ingham Cancer Research Trust (created by the late Jeremy Ingham who swam with both the Acadia Varsity Swim Team and the Tritons).
