Acadia's results on Day 1 at U SPORTS Swimming championship

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Acadia Swim team took to the pool on Day 1 of USPORT Championships in Victoria, B.C. on Thursday morning with 4 Axewomen and 4 Axemen racing in short course prelims and long course finals. 

In the prelim session, Elisabeth Morrison started the team off in the women's 50m freestyle with a lifetime best time of 27.07 and placed 38th. On the men's side, Dean Sangster placed 35th and Shane Kenny placed 39th. 

In the women's 100m backstroke, standout rookie Sophie Rooney had a great race and secured a B Final. In the final, she placed 9th overall with a time of 1:04.86. Sangster had a great morning swim in the 100m back, placing 29th. 

Next up was the 50m breaststroke, with Axewomen Morrison and Ella Collins both having standout swims. In the evening final, Collins placed 23rd overall with a time of 34.38. Gordon Shortt put together a great morning swim in the 50. 

In the men's 100m butterfly, vet Shane Kenny secured a C Final. In the evening, Kenny placed 21st overall with a 57.12. 

On the relay side of things, the Axemen (Shortt, Kenny, Sangster, and Bo Stokesbury-Price) placed 11th overall in the final with a time 3:57.78 in the 4x100 medley.
