LeBouthiller brings Canada Games experience to Axemen swim team

WOLFVILLE – While the AUS championship is just a week away, the Axemen swim program is also working towards the 2024-25 season by welcoming new commitments. Xavier LeBouthillier is the most recent swimmer to sign with Acadia for fall 2024.

A member of the Bathurst Blast swim club, he hails from Tracadie, N.B. LeBouthillier is a distance freestyle and IM swimmer.

“Acadia for me was the place to go because of the welcoming environment of the university,” he said. “Being a part of it and being a part of this team is the right choice for me. The small classes with access to the teachers is something I’ve been around in my academic path, so it’s important for me to keep this the same. The team spirit in the swim team is exactly what I’m looking for.”

Over his time with the Blast, he has been recognized as the most dedicated swimmer (2021-22), swimmer of the year (2022-23) and top FINA point scorer (2022-23). LeBouthillier has also worked with FAST in his most recent season, being named swimmer of the week four times.

One of his most major accomplishments came when he was selected for Team NB for the 2022 Canada Games in Saint Catharines, Ont. Personally he was also the fastest overall short course 1500 freestyler in New Brunswick in the last five years.

LeBouthillier will be working towards a business degree while attending Acadia.
