Sea-Hawks split weekend against Axewomen

WOLFVILLE – Hannah Green (Flatrock, NL) led the Memorial Sea-Hawks past the Acadia Axewomen on Saturday night in Wolfville as they split the weekend with an 81-61 victory.

Green had her team's only double-double of the night, finishing with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Memorial led by 10 after a quarter and 13 at halftime. The Axewomen cut the lead to as little as five in the third quarter, but that was as close as they got as the Sea-Hawks stretched it to 10 again after three quarter and outscored the Axewomen by 10 in the fourth.

The Sea-Hawks were led by Alana Short's (Barrie, ON) 20 points, while she pulled in nine boards. Off the bench Alyssa Jenkins (St. John's, NL) had the largest impact, finishing the night with 14 points.

Bianca Helmig (Speyer, Germany) and Lisa Bolander (Uppsala, Sweden) had 11 points apiece, with Elizabeth Iseyemi (Dartmouth, NS) finishing with a team-high 15 points. Helmig had Acadia's team-high in assists with nine, while Iseyemi led Acadia with eight rebounds.

Next weekend Memorial hosts the Cape Breton Capers for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday, while the Axewomen play one more game before the break on Saturday night in Charlottetown against the UPEI Panthers.
