"We just executed our game plan perfectly, we used the conditions to our advantage," said Ottawa head coach Jennifer Boyd. "We have been talking about this for two weeks and I could not have asked for a better performance.

"We got 25 kids in, no injuries, we really look forward to playing Calgary tomorrow."

Right out of the gate, Ottawa took control of the game. Samantha Ali eluded a pair of Acadia defenders, sprinting down the sideline for the game's first try in the first minute. Emma Sandstrom converted the try to give the Gee-Gees an early 7-0 lead.

Playing with the wind in the first half, the Gee-Gees onslaught continued, scoring four more tries before the 25-minute mark. Alexandria Ellis, Breanna Phillipps, Danielle Erdelyi and Danarae Sommerville scored in a 14-minute span.

Sommerville and Ellis each recorded their second tries of the match before the first half was up and Sandstrom finished with three converts total to give the Gee-Gees a 41-0 lead at the break.

Ottawa picked up right where they left off, adding to the lead three minutes into the second half with Dria Bennett scoring her first try of the day.

Acadia finally put some pressure on the Gee-Gees, as Anne Kennedy made a nice run, then kicked and chased to pin  Ottawa nearly to their own goal line. While the Gee-Gees stopped the initial attack, Nicole Pahl was able to touch the ball down for Acadia's first points of the game.
