Rugby Axewomen lose quarterfinal match against Laval at U SPORTS Championship
KINGSTON, ONT. – The Laval Rouge et Or have punched their ticket to the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby semifinal with a decisive 46-12 victory over AUS finalists, Acadia Axewomen at Nixon Field in Kingston.

KINGSTON, ONT. – The Laval Rouge et Or have punched their ticket to the U SPORTS Women's Rugby semifinal with a decisive 46-12 victory over AUS finalists, Acadia Axewomen at Nixon Field in Kingston.
Laval's Corrine Frechette and Nele Pien both scored a pair of tries in the match for the defending U SPORTS champions, while Rosalie Charbonneau, Lea Ouelette and Adele Samson each got onto the score sheet with a try apiece.
Acadia's Annie Kennedy opened the scoring for an Axewomen lead five minutes into the tilt. A successful convert from the boot of Sara Kennedy put the lead to 7-0 for Acadia.
A tenth-minute penalty convert from Audrey Champagne and a try from Frechette in the 25th minute put Laval up 10-7.
Acadia responded five minutes later with a try from Grace Pinch putting the Axewomen back on top. That lead would be short lasted, as five minutes later Frechette dotted down for the second time in the match.
The Rouge et Or would not look back, scoring the next five tries in the match en route to a statement win for the RSEQ Champions.
With this victory, Laval advances to play in the semifinal on Friday, while Acadia will play in the consolation semifinal scheduled on Friday, Nov. 12 at 3:00 pm (AT) against the UBC Thunderbirds.
