WOLFVILLE – The Axewomen rugby program is excited to grow their 2024 recruitment class with the commitment of Lauren Harvey.

The forward/lock joins Acadia from Petrolia, Ont. where she most recently played club rugby for London St. George’s RFC. With the club, on their U16 and U18 teams, she played girls 15s and 7s, while also being team captain. In 2023 she played for the provincial program as a member of the Ontario Blues, where she was an Ontario Cup champion.

Prior to this, her rugby career began in 2015 when she joined Sarnia Saints RFC. While there she played on their boys rookie team until 2021 before playing on the senior women’s team for a season at only 14-years-old.

“My dream has always been to play rugby at varsity level,” said Harvey. “Committing to Acadia not only proves that hard work pays off, but also gives me an opportunity to study something that is very interesting to me while furthering my rugby career.”

She will be working towards a community development degree while attending Acadia.
