Axewomen top Huskies in home opener
WOLFVILLE, NS – The Acadia Axewomen improved to 2-0 with a 65-17 victory over Saint Mary's on Sunday afternoon in their home opener at Raymond Field.
The No. 10 ranked Axewomen were led offensively by Sarah Williston (Toronto, ON), who finished with three trys on the day, including two in the first half to help her team to a 27-5 lead at the half.
Sara Grant (Melrose, NB) wasn't far off Williston's total, finishing with 11 points from a try and three converts.
For the Huskies it was Sophie Van Berkel (Dartmouth, NS) leading their offence with seven points on a try and convert.
Next Saturday Acadia continues their homestand, this time hosting StFX (2-0) at Raymond Field, while Saint Mary's (0-2) travels to UPEI (0-2) to face the Panthers.
