Daughter of Anne & Harvey Nickerson, Emily was named MVP of her soccer team all three years in High School and was named Senior Female Athlete of the Year in her senior year. She also received an NSSAF award for participation and sportsmanship in High School athletics. Emily has attended 2 camps for the Canadian Women’s National team at both the U-15 and U-17 level.

In 2013, Emily represented Nova Scotia at the Summer Canada Games where she captained the team. She has been a team member of the Nova Scotia Provincial Team from U-13 to U-18 and has been a member of the Valley United Club soccer from U-14 to Senior Women’s.

In her freshman year at Acadia, Emily received the AUS Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Star honors. She also received the CIS Second team All-Canadian Award. In addition, Emily was presented with the Acadia Outstanding First Year Female Athlete of the Year award and was the Acadia Women’s soccer Rookie of the Year. Emily finished her first year as an Academic All Canadian.

Emily has been a volunteer for the Campaign for Kids charity, Christmas parties and picnics for Michelin, as well as coaching youth girl’s soccer in the summer of 2014. Emily also participated in raising money for the CIBC Relay for Life.

Fun facts about Emily include being the flag bearer for Nova Scotia at the 2013 Canada Games and she has been an employee at McDonalds for 2 years and counting.
