Axewomen improve to 1-1 with 2-1 win over Mounties

SACKVILLE, NB - The Mount Allison Mounties kicked off Homecoming weekend with some inspired women's soccer action, losing a close 2-1 battle to the visiting Acadia Axewomen at Alumni Field on Friday night.

Acadia, who was picked to be one of the AUS's top 4 teams in the pre-season coaches' poll,
opened the scoring quickly when Jayden Boudreau scored in the 16th minute.

The Mounties replied quickly as senior Amanda Piltzmaker scored her first goal of the young
season in the 24th minute.

The scored remained knotted at 1-1 for the remainder of the 1st half.

Acadia took a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute when Rosie Nichols scored what proved to be the
winning goal.

Acadia returns to action on Saturday as they travel to PEI to visit the UPEI Panthers. Mount
Allison sees its next action on Friday, September 24th when they host UNB at Alumni Field.
