Ottawa’s Taylor Kay joins Axewomen soccer program

WOLFVILLE – The Axewomen soccer 2024 recruitment class continues to grow with the addition of Taylor Kay.

A 5’7 attacking midfielder/winger, she hails from Ottawa, where she has played for West Ottawa Soccer Club (WOSC).

“Taylor is a hardworking and versatile player who can play on the wing or in the midfield,” said Acadia head coach Amit Batra. “She has a highly competitive spirit and is deceptive, as well as brave. She will find herself on the end of goals with headers as well as finding a way to finish when in the 18-yard box. I see a lot of potential for Taylor, and we think she’ll add a lot to our team on and off the field.”

From 2013-21 she spent her time with Ottawa South United, playing in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL).

Following that, she spent 2021-23 playing for WOSC with 2022 being a big season for Kay as she was the OPDL top goal scorer with the WOSC 2006 girls team, was team captain and was an Ontario provincial prospect.

“Committing to Acadia means a lot to me,” said Kay. “I was looking for a university with a highly competitive soccer program, along with an inviting school atmosphere. From the moment I visited Acadia and its community I knew without a doubt this was the place for me.”

This summer she will be playing with OSU again.

In the fall, academically, she will be working towards a business administration degree.
