WOLFVILLE, N.S. – A penalty kick in the fourth minute by Emma Halliday (St. John's, NL) lifted Memorial University to a 1-0 victory over Acadia University in AUS women's soccer action Saturday at Raymond Field in front of 285 fans.
Acadia dominated offensively with 23 shots to Memorial's six, but the Sea-Hawks' strong defensive effort, led by goalkeeper Leana Claude (Grenchen, SUI), secured the win. Claude recorded seven saves, keeping the Axewomen off the scoreboard. Milena Ramirez (Wolfville, NS) made one save in the loss.
The match was physical, with 17 fouls called. Acadia's Riley Bonadie (Ottawa, ON) and Memorial's Jen Milligan (Strathroy, ON) received yellow cards.
