Sea-Hawks grab 3-0 win in first of two match weekend

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The Axewomen volleyball team opened up their two match weekend series against the visiting 1-5 Memorial Sea-Hawks with a 3-0 loss.

 
A close 25-19 Sea-Hawk win was closed by a kill by Angela Peddle followed by two service aces by Kirsten Sorensen.

In the second game, Memorial pulled out to a 12-6 lead and pushed further to a 20-11 advantage and an eventual 25-15 win. The Axewomen gave up 10 attacked errors in the second set.

Fighting back from a 5-1 third set deficit, Acadia tied the game at eight and then took a 16-11 lead before Memorial tied the the match at 21. A see-saw battle ensued with the Sea-Hawks wrapping up the match with a 32-30 third game win.

Senior middle Angela Peddle led Memorial with 10 kills in the win while Krista Hogan and Sam March added 8 apiece. Setter Kirsten Sorensen had 30 assists in the win. Hogan also had a team-high 11 digs in the win. Adrienne Penney got in on 6 blocks with 1 solo and 5 assisted.

Kristen Bolduc led Acadia with 10 kills in the loss. The Axewomen drop to 2-3 while Memorial improves to 2-5. Both teams wrap up the weekend series at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
