Annand top Acadia runner: StFX and Dal capture meet top positions

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Acadia University was host of the first AUS Cross Country meet of the 2014 season and Dalhousie Tigers and StFX posted well. On the women's side, Dalhousie captured first place overall with Tiger runner Ellen Chappell winning the women's 5K in 18:08.

Acadia's Emily Annand was the top Axewomen runner posting a time of 20:05 - 20th overall in a strong field of runners.

In the men's 8K meet, StFX posted seven of the top ten times. Lee Wessilius captured the crown with a time of 25:30 while teammates Scott Donald and Riley Johnston finished second and third respectively. The X-men won the men's opening season meet.

The course for both men's and women's was on flat terrain over the dyke land of the Annapolis Valley in Wolfville and was chosen as the first run of the season for its less challenging topography.

Top runners for the host Axewomen included Annand, Ellen Taggart with a 20:12 run and Mackenzie Seagram at 20:18. The Axewomen finished 4 overall in a field of seven teams.
